Dan Zimmerman IN SPACE!
Dan Zimmerman, the ever-searching Cosmic Patriot, is both director and leading man in ‘SPACE PILGRIM‘, a 1950’s style sci-fi short film (ala George Pal, Ed Wood, and Val Lewton) from Cardboard Dream Productions. The film documents the interplanetary daring-do of Space Pilgrim as he threads his way through asteroid belts, encounters strange worlds and even stranger creatures, and pilots home to submit the full report of his adventures: his forthcoming album, ‘Dreams of Earth‘.

Ben + Vesper on Daytrotter!

About a year ago, on their way to play a big music festival in the middle of a beautiful firefly-laden cornfield, Ben + Vesper stopped by The Horseshack in downtown Rock Island, Ill to record a live session for Daytrotter. Four songs were performed in one take, without editing, and mixed on the fly (as they say, old school), and just last week it was released to the wide world.

We’ve always loved Ben + Vesper, but listening to these sessions reminds us of how truly great they are–extraordinary performers, writers, and artists. Take a listen here. It’ll be the best twenty minutes you spend today.

Singing/Signing

It’s been a busy season for Wovenhand. In December, Wovenhand graced us with a beautiful book of lyrics, drawings, and music called Black of the Ink, and then just last month, the first-ever live Wovenhand recording (CD/LP/DVD) was released, Live at Roepaen.

We’re excited to report that on June 2nd, a very special event will be taking place in Los Angeles, CA. David Eugene Edwards will be playing a rare solo set AND will be signing copies of ‘Black of the Ink’! Join us! Details as follows:

Sat, June 2nd, 9pm The Last Bookstore 453 S Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90013 Tickets and more info here.  See you there!

New Danielson Expectorance!

Aside

As reported back in December, our dear friends at Joyful Noise Recordings have launched a Flexi-Disc subscription series (one artist per month) featuring all kinds of great artists: Deerhoof, Of Montreal, Tortoise, Jad Fair, Rafter, Danielson, and more. This amazing series has been underway since January, and today we’re proud to announce that April is Danielson month! It’s a brand new (and EXCLUSIVE) Danielson gem called ‘Expectorance’. It comes with all the usual Danielson trimmings, which means general fantasticness. Just click here for the full scoop!

Thanks Thanks!

A week ago Ortolan launched their first-ever crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. You’ve heard the call and rallied! In just seven days they’ve reached the 20% mark. This is terrific. A huge and hearty “Hey, thanks!!” to all who have contributed so generously so far. To all those who would still like to contribute, there’s no time like the present. There are gifts! There’s a catchy video with a catchy song! Let’s help these songbirds sing! Click here to give and get! Thanks a million, folks.
